Additional Resources:

Follow-Up Session:
Distribute a short survey or have an open discussion on the content of the workshop, which activities they found most helpful, and what they would like to learn more about in future workshops.
Post workshop feedback formAfter the workshop, reflect on which activities were most engaging. Were the teens actively participating? Did any challenges arise during the activities that could be improved next time? Document any areas for improvement or topics that need further exploration.
One-Month Check-In: Reach out to participants after one month to check in on their progress with the beauty habits they set during the workshop. You could offer a small, informal follow-up session or an online group to share updates.
Provide a list of resources for ongoing self-care and beauty education, including websites, social media accounts, or books that promote healthy beauty habits.  Can you add some here?Invite participants to join a follow-up session or online community to support continued learning and share their progress. This can help build a sense of community and accountability.

Lesson Activities

Please choose from the activities provided, how many and which ones you can do, according to the time available and your participants.

Activities and Worksheets

“Mirror, Mirror” Icebreaker (10 min)

Pair up participants and have each describe three things they like about the other person’s natural features (e.g., skin, eyes, smile, etc.).

Facilitator Notes: Emphasize positive language. Encourage participants to compliment features that are not related to clothing or accessories. This creates a positive atmosphere and promotes self-awareness. You could also guide participants through a short Mindful Self-Worth exercise: Close their eyes, breathe deeply, and repeat affirmations like “I am beautiful as I am,” or “My beauty comes from within.”

1. Skin Type Quiz & Interactive Discussion (20 min)

Activity: Have each teen take a quick skin type quiz (either paper or digital). Discuss the results and how different skin types require different care. Use fun visuals (e.g., emoji faces or charts).

Facilitator Notes: Guide the discussion by asking questions like, “What’s your biggest skincare challenge?” or “Do you have any favorite products that work for your skin type?” Allow teens to share their experiences to make the session feel more relatable and inclusive. Make sure to emphasize that there’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach to skincare.

2. Basic Skincare Routine Demonstration (25 min)

Activity: Demonstrate a simple skincare routine: cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen. Have the teens try applying the products themselves with guidance.

Facilitator Notes: While demonstrating, explain the purpose of each step in the routine and its benefits. Encourage participants to ask questions and try the steps out for themselves. If someone has sensitive skin or a specific concern, take a moment to address their questions. Remind teens to be gentle with their skin, especially when cleansing.

3. Natural Makeup Application Workshop (40 min)

Activity: Demonstrate how to apply basic, natural-looking makeup. Show them how to use products like concealer, mascara, and lip balm. Then, let them experiment with these products on themselves or in pairs.

Facilitator Notes: Encourage creativity and self-expression with makeup. Explain that makeup can be used as a tool for self-expression and that there’s no one “correct” way to wear it. Let teens play around with different techniques and colors, fostering a sense of fun and experimentation. Remind them that makeup should enhance their natural features, not cover them up.

4. “Beauty is More Than Skin Deep” Group Poster Creation (15 min)

Activity: Have participants work in small groups to create posters with the message that “Beauty is More Than Skin Deep.” Provide markers and poster boards, and encourage teens to incorporate affirmations and drawings that reflect inner beauty and self-care.

Facilitator Notes: Encourage them to think about what “inner beauty” means and how they can express that through art and words. Afterward, invite each group to present their poster and explain its meaning. Use this time to reinforce the importance of self-esteem and kindness, both to themselves and others.

5. Healthy Habits Goal Setting (20 min)

Activity: Guide teens to set a personal goal related to beauty or self-care (e.g., drink more water, develop a skincare routine, get more sleep). Have them write their goal in a small journal or on a piece of paper and share with the group.

Facilitator Notes: Make sure to encourage small, achievable goals. Offer suggestions for healthy habits that improve both skin health and overall well-being. You could even prompt participants by saying, “What’s one small thing you could do every day for yourself?” Encourage them to track their progress and check in with a friend for support.

6. Mindful Beauty Meditation (10 min)

Activity: Lead a short mindfulness activity that focuses on self-compassion. Guide teens to close their eyes, focus on their breathing, and repeat affirmations such as, “I am beautiful as I am,” or “I take care of myself because I matter.”

Facilitator Notes: Emphasize the importance of being kind to themselves, both inside and out. Remind them that beauty is not just about appearance, but about feeling good and confident. If time allows, invite them to share their experience or any feelings that came up during the meditation.
